HOW TO STOP OVERTHINKING?
Dealing with overthinking might be challenging. And it's not an easy task to stop overthinking all of a sudden. But with practice, we can surely overcome this issue.
The first step is to be aware of the situation when you start overthinking. During such times, don't try to resist your thoughts, but instead try to distract them with something positive. You can also try to change the perspective of your thoughts to something productive. For instance, think about something that you are passionate about and think of ways to make it happen. This way, you get to push yourself to do it as quickly as possible. I have always wanted to start a blog but have been overthinking my ability. I didn't believe myself until I finally did it. To others, this might not be the greatest of achievements, but to me, it is. I have broken the chains of my mind, and finally, I have attempted to step out of my comfort zone to do something that I have always wanted to do. You've got to be ready to accept constructive criticism and start working on it rather than thinking over and over again that you're not good enough.
You have to stop being indolent for too long, as it can also lead to overthinking. Laziness and overthinking together can eat you up inside. It can prevent you from getting things done on time and make you feel worthless. So, all that you have to do is practice mindfulness. You can also try to open up to a friend whom you feel will help you get rid of your negative thoughts. Overthinking causes a lot of problems in relationships as well. The key is to stop expecting, which is a major reason for overthinking. Just because you are thinking about something a lot doesn't change the way it is going to unfold. Don't try to analyse each and every action of your loved ones (which is also a reason for overthinking). Just be present with them at the moment. And one should never keep asking for the opinion of others. Too many of others' thoughts can explode in your mind. Try to take decisions as soon as possible and never worry about them afterwards. Whatever the outcome may be, face it boldly today. When you have done something wrong or regrettable, accept and acknowledge that you have done it, and move on. You don't have to be guilty for a long time. And generally, people have the tendency to forget most of the things that are trivial. They are not going to remember something that you did five years ago at a party that you feel is embarrassing. You have to accept yourself at your best and worst as well. Thinking is good, but make sure that you don't get lost in your own thoughts. Let time heal everything!
